Every street has one house that goes further than the rest. This is how you become it without getting on a roof. A Santa gripping a lit ladder, hung off the balcony rail, the verandah post, a gum tree or the front fence — so it looks like he is halfway up and climbing.

The ladder is the light. Warm white or multicolour LEDs run the full length of it, and a wireless remote runs the lot: eight modes, a night timer, a dimmer, and a speed control for how fast he climbs.

Why It Stands Out
  • It tells a story — most outdoor christmas decorations just glow. A light up santa on ladder lights is doing something, and people stop and point.
  • The remote runs everything — on, off, eight modes, brightness, and the speed of the chase. Once it is hung off a balcony rail or up a gum, you never reach for a switch again.
  • A 2, 4, 6 or 8 hour timer — set it once and it comes on at the same hour each night and shuts itself off. The button you will actually use.
  • Speed control on the climb — the chasing mode is the reason to buy it, and you can slow it to a steady climb or wind it to a scramble.
  • Two sizes — 1.6 m with six steps for a balcony or a window, 3 m with twelve for a full wall, a tree or a double-storey front.
  • Warm white or multicolour — warm white if the rest of your christmas lights are white, multicolour if the kids get a say.
  • USB powered — and the plug has its own button, so it still works when the remote goes under the couch. No batteries to die in December.
Where to Hang It
  • Off the balcony rail — christmas balcony decoration for the one spot an apartment gets. Visible from the street, nothing drilled.
  • Down a verandah post or a pergola upright — where people walk past it on the way to the door.
  • From a gum or jacaranda branch — christmas garden decoration that uses a tree you already have.
  • On the front fence or garden wall — a fence christmas decoration and christmas yard decoration the whole street sees.
  • Beside the front door, in a window, or inside — the 1.6 m works as a christmas door decoration or christmas window decoration, or a hanging christmas decoration down a staircase.
  • Wrapped up — a christmas gift for the neighbour who already has every ornament.
Putting It Up and Setting It

1. Build the ladder first — it arrives as white tube sections that push together in a few minutes. It is rigid, not a soft rope ladder, which is why it hangs straight instead of twisting in the wind.
2. Hang it from the single hook at the top and plug the lead into USB power.
3. Pick a mode, 1 to 8 — most people leave it on steady; chasing and sequential run the light up the rungs so Santa reads as climbing; slow fade, slo-glo, twinkle, waves and combination fill in between.
4. Set the timer — 2H, 4H, 6H or 8H, and from then on it runs itself.
5. Trim it — DIM down if it glares into a bedroom window, SPEED down if the chase looks frantic.

It runs from any 5 V USB point — a socket, an outdoor-rated adaptor or a power bank within reach of where you hang it.

Care and Maintenance
  • Hang it from the top hook only — do not take the weight on the light run.
  • Bring it in for a storm — a wet December southerly will find the plug.
  • Keep Santa out of the full afternoon sun — the fabric suit fades faster than the lights fail.
  • Take it apart in January — sections back in the box, light run coiled loosely. Folded hard, the wire kinks and you lose a section.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which size should I choose?
The 1.6 m ladder has 6 steps and suits a balcony or window. The 3 m ladder has 12 steps and suits a full wall, a tree or a double-storey front.
How is it powered?
It runs on 5 V USB, so you need a USB power source within reach. There are no batteries. The USB plug also has its own manual button, so it still works if the remote goes missing.
What can the remote do?
The remote turns it on and off, chooses from 8 modes (steady, chasing, sequential, slow fade, slo-glo, twinkle, waves and combination), sets a 2, 4, 6 or 8 hour timer, and adjusts brightness and the speed of the climb.
Can it stay outside in the rain?
It suits indoors, a verandah, a pergola or another sheltered spot outdoors. Bring it in for storms to keep the plug dry, and keep Santa out of full afternoon sun, as the fabric suit fades.
How do I hang it?
Assemble the rigid ladder sections, then hang it from the top hook on a balcony, fence, post, tree or wall. Take the weight on the top hook only, not on the light run.
What comes in the box?
You receive 1 Santa figure, 1 ladder in sections with the LED light run in your size and colour, 1 wireless remote and 1 USB plug with a manual button. After Christmas, take it apart and coil the light run loosely to avoid kinks.
