An Australian Christmas happens outdoors, in the heat, at the back of the house — which is exactly where there's no power point. These solar fairy lights solve that. A string of crystal globe bulbs, a panel that charges itself in the sun, eight lighting modes on a button, and a sensor that switches the whole thing on at dusk without you touching it.
Why It Stands Out
Crystal globe bulbs — faceted clear globes rather than bare LEDs, so they catch and split the light instead of just glowing, and they still look like something in daylight
Eight lighting modes — waves, combination, sequential, gradual, chasing flash, slow fade, twinkle flash and steady on. Steady for a dinner outdoors, twinkle or chase for Christmas
No power point needed — the panel charges all day and the string runs off it at night, so the back fence, the far tree and the pergola are all reachable without an extension lead across the lawn
A full day's sun stored up — the 800mAh NiMH battery charges through the day and lights the whole evening, longer again on the gentler modes
180° adjustable solar panel — monocrystalline silicon on a tilting bracket, so you angle it at the sun rather than hoping the mounting spot happens to face the right way
IP65 rated — sealed against rain, sprinklers and humidity, so the string stays up through storm season instead of coming down after every forecast
Warm white or multicolour — warm white reads as everyday garden lighting; multicolour is the one that goes up for Christmas and comes down in January
Four lengths, 5 m to 13 m — 5 m for a balcony railing, 6.5 m or 9.5 m for a tree or a pergola bay, 13 m for a full garden perimeter or a large tree
Where to Hang Them
Wrapped around a tree — the classic Christmas lights job, and the 13 m string is the one that actually goes all the way around a decent trunk and out along the branches
Pergola, verandah and patio — strung along beams as party lights over an outdoor table, on steady mode so they read as lighting rather than decoration
Fence lines and garden beds — run along a paling fence or through planting so the light comes from inside the garden rather than above it
Balcony railings — the 5 m or 6.5 m string suits a small balcony where there's no outdoor power and no room for a fixture
Christmas and party displays — multicolour on twinkle or chase mode over a tree, a hedge or the front verandah, with no cord out a window and no timer to set
Gazebos, umbrellas and BBQ areas — anywhere you entertain after dark and there's no fitting to plug into
How It Works
1. The panel charges by day — a monocrystalline silicon panel on a 180° adjustable bracket feeds the built-in 800mAh NiMH battery. Angle it at the sun, not just at the sky. 2. The sensor detects dusk — as light levels fall the string comes on by itself. There's no switch to operate once it's set. 3. The mode button sets the effect — press to cycle through the eight modes. It remembers the last one, so you set it once per season rather than every night. 4. It lights the evening — a full charge covers a normal evening, then the panel starts again at sunrise.
How to Hang Them
1. Site the panel first, not the lights — push the spike into the sunniest spot within reach of where the string needs to run, then angle the panel toward the midday sun. 2. Uncoil, then hang — unwind the full string before you start so it doesn't tangle, then drape or wrap it along the tree, rail or beam. 3. Pick your mode — press the button until you get the effect you want. Steady on for everyday lighting, twinkle or chase for Christmas. 4. Charge a full day before the first night — one complete charge gets you full runtime from the first evening. Tip: for a tree, wrap the trunk first and work outward along the main branches. Starting at the tips is how you run out of string halfway.
Care and Maintenance
Wipe the panel — dust, pollen and bird mess on the panel face cut charging badly. A damp cloth every few weeks is the whole job
Check the panel angle each season — the sun sits lower in winter, so a tilt that worked in January may not in July
Water only — no solvents or abrasive cleaners on the globes or the panel housing
Don't pull the string taut — leave a little slack between fixing points so wind movement doesn't stress the wire
Coil loosely for storage — if the multicolour set comes down in January, coil it wide rather than tight and keep it indoors

Frequently Asked Questions
What lengths are available?
There are four lengths: 5 m with 20 LEDs, 6.5 m with 30 LEDs, 9.5 m with 50 LEDs and 13 m with 100 LEDs. The 5 m suits a balcony railing, 6.5 m or 9.5 m suits a tree or pergola bay, and 13 m suits a full garden perimeter or a large tree.
What colours can I choose?
Warm White or Multicolour. Warm white suits everyday garden lighting, and multicolour suits Christmas and party displays.
What lighting modes does it have?
There are 8 modes: waves, combination, sequential, gradual, chasing flash, slow fade, twinkle flash and steady on. Press the button to cycle through them. The string remembers the last mode you chose.
How long do the lights stay on?
8–10 hours per full charge from the built-in 800mAh NiMH battery. A sensor switches the string on automatically at dusk. Charge it for a full day before the first night.
Do I need a power point?
No. The monocrystalline solar panel charges the battery during the day. Push the ground spike into the sunniest spot within reach of the string and tilt the 180° adjustable panel toward the midday sun.
Can they stay outside in the rain?
Yes. The set is IP65 rated and sealed against rain, sprinklers and humidity. Leave a little slack between fixing points so wind movement does not stress the wire, and clean with water only.
