The yard looks its best at about eight at night, and that is exactly when you cannot see it. The pool goes black, the pond disappears, the outdoor setting becomes a shape, and the only thing lit is the kitchen window. Wiring lights into water is an electrician's job and a weekend you are not spending. These are not that. Each one is a sealed 7 cm disc with ten LEDs inside, weighted so it sinks and sits where it lands. Drop them in the pool, stand them under the pots, line them along the table, and change all of them to any of sixteen colours from a remote without getting out of your chair.

Why It Stands Out
  • Sixteen Colours From the Chair — Red through to deep purple plus white, switched on a 24-key remote. Colour changing lights are only worth having if changing them is easy, and this is one button.
  • Three Dynamic Modes — Flash, fade and smooth. Flash for a party, smooth for a slow cycle through the spectrum while people are eating.
  • Built-In Timer — Two, four or six hours on the remote, so a run of lights shuts itself down after everyone has gone in rather than draining overnight.
  • IP68 Rated — Fully sealed for continuous immersion, which is what separates real underwater lights from something that only survives a splash.
  • It Sinks and Stays — The weighted body settles on the bottom on its own. A suction cup comes with each light if you would rather fix it to tile, glass or a smooth wall.
  • Ten LEDs Per Disc — Spread across the face so the colour comes out evenly in every direction instead of as a single bright point.
  • No Wiring At All — Three AAA cells inside each unit. These are battery operated lights in the truest sense: no cable, no transformer, no electrician.
Where to Put It
  • On the Floor of the Pool — Spaced along the length they light the water from inside, which is what makes a pool look like a pool at night rather than a dark rectangle.
  • Along the Pool Edge — Suction-cupped to the tiled wall just under the waterline, where underwater pool lights throw colour up the sides.
  • In the Pond or Water Feature — Sunk beside the plants, or under a spill, where pond lights pick out moving water better than anything above the surface.
  • Under the Pots on the Patio — Set one behind a planter and it uplights the foliage. Used this way they are garden lights that take thirty seconds to position and no installation at all.
  • Down the Table — Inside vases, under glass, or simply along the centre of the outdoor table as outdoor party lights for a night that was decided at four in the afternoon.
  • In the Aquarium — Dropped into a tank or a bowl, the same disc works as accent aquarium lights behind the plants and the rockwork.
  • Anywhere for an Event — Weddings, birthdays, Christmas tables. They go in, they come out, nothing is installed and nothing is left behind.
How It Works
  1. Sealed, Not Just Splashproof — The housing is closed around the battery compartment to an IP68 rating, so the unit works fully immersed rather than only near water.
  2. The Remote Talks by Infrared — One 24-key remote controls every light within range at once, so a whole pool changes colour together rather than one at a time.
  3. Weight Does the Positioning — The body is heavier than the water it displaces, so it sinks flat and stays put instead of drifting to the edge.
  4. Timer Then Off — Set two, four or six hours and it closes itself down. Left alone, it runs until you press off.
How to Set It Up
  1. Open the Base and Load It — Twist the base to the OPEN mark, fit three AAA alkaline cells, and close it firmly back to CLOSE. Turn it, never force it.
  2. Use Alkaline, Not Budget Cells — The weight of a good set of cells is part of what makes the unit sit on the bottom. Light cheap batteries can leave it riding higher than you want.
  3. Pull the Remote Tab — The CR2025 cell is already in the remote. Pull the plastic tab out of the side and it is live.
  4. Drop It In or Stick It On — Let it sink where you want it, or press the suction cup onto clean tile or glass and fit the light to it.
  5. Point the Remote at the Water — The signal carries about 8 metres through air and roughly a metre through water, so aim at the surface directly above the light rather than across the pool at it.

Tip: Set them all to the colour you want before they go in the water. Changing them from the edge works, but changing them on the table takes two seconds and saves leaning over a pool in the dark.

NB: Infrared does not travel far through water, so plan the layout around the remote rather than the other way round. In open air it reaches about 8 metres; submerged, hold the remote low and aim down at the surface above the unit and it picks up reliably. In a deep pool, a light on the floor of the deep end is harder to reach than one on a step or a ledge. Australian pool water is chlorinated or salted and both leave a film on a sealed plastic housing over a summer, so a rinse in fresh water now and then keeps the lenses clear and the colour bright.

Care and Maintenance
  • Rinse After Chlorine or Salt — Fresh water and a dry-off before they go back in the drawer. Thirty seconds that doubles how long they look new.
  • Take the Cells Out for Storage — Batteries left in over winter corrode the contacts. Out, and they start the next season properly.
  • Open It Gently — Always turn the base to the OPEN mark rather than prying it. The seal is what the IP68 rating depends on.
  • Keep the Remote Dry — The lights are sealed; the remote is not. It stays on the table.

Frequently Asked Questions

What batteries do I need and are they included?
Each light takes 3 x AAA batteries, which are not included. Use good alkaline cells, as their weight helps the light sit on the bottom. The remote's CR2025 battery is included. Pull out the plastic tab to activate it.
Can they go fully underwater?
Yes. They are IP68 rated for continuous immersion in pools, ponds, water features and aquariums. Always twist the base to the OPEN and CLOSE marks rather than prying it, as the seal is what keeps the rating.
How many colours and modes are there?
16 colours plus 3 dynamic modes: flash, fade and smooth. A timer turns them off after 2, 4 or 6 hours, all from the 24-key remote.
Does the remote work underwater?
The remote reaches about 8 m through air but only about 1 m through water. Hold it low and aim at the surface directly above the light. The remote is not waterproof, so keep it dry. Tip: set the colour before the lights go in.
How do they stay in place?
The weighted body sinks and stays where it lands. Each light also comes with a suction cup for fixing to tile, glass or another smooth surface.
Can I use them in a chlorine or salt pool?
Yes. Rinse them in fresh water and dry them after use to keep the lenses clear, and remove the batteries before storing over winter. Each light is 7 cm across and 3 cm high, and packs of 2, 4 or 6 include one suction cup per light and a remote.
