Lighting a fence line usually means one of three bad options: trenching a cable, paying an electrician, or swapping batteries every few weeks. These solar fence lights need none of it. Each unit has its own panel, screws or sticks onto the surface in a couple of minutes, and then runs itself — on at dusk, off at dawn, every night, with nothing to switch and nothing to plug in.

Why It Stands Out
  • Each light is self-contained — its own panel, its own battery, its own sensor. There's no central controller and no cable between units, so you can space them however the fence runs
  • Screws or sticks on — screws for timber, masonry and composite, adhesive where you can't or won't drill. No wiring, no electrician, no permanent fixture
  • Small enough to disappear — 5.1 × 8.1 × 4.6 cm, so on a fence post or deck railing you notice the light at night and barely notice the unit by day
  • Fully automatic — the sensor brings it on as the light drops and shuts it off at dawn. Set it once and it handles the evenings by itself
  • 600mAh NiMH battery — charged by a 2V / 100mA amorphous silicon panel through the day, with no disposable batteries to replace
  • Packs of 4 or 8 — 4 for a deck railing or a short run of fence, 8 for a full boundary or a longer set of steps
  • Works on almost any surface — fence posts, deck railings, balcony edges, garden walls, stair risers and shed walls all take the same mount
  • Nothing to run — no wiring, no transformer, and nothing added to the power bill

Where to Put Them
  • Fence lines and fence posts — evenly spaced along the boundary, these read as a designed fence lighting run rather than a row of stuck-on lamps
  • Deck railings and balcony edges — solar deck lights along the rail give you usable light over a table without a single permanent fitting
  • Stair risers and outdoor steps — one per riser turns a dark set of steps into something you can actually see, which matters most on a wet night
  • Garden walls and raised beds — as garden wall lights along a render or brick face, washing light down the surface
  • Sheds, carports and side paths — the narrow, forgotten runs where nobody ever ran a cable
  • Rentals and anywhere you can't drill — the adhesive mount means no holes and nothing to make good when you leave

How It Works

1. The panel charges by day — a 2V / 100mA amorphous silicon panel on the face of each unit converts daylight and stores it in the internal 1.2V AAA 600mAh NiMH battery.
2. The sensor reads the light level — a built-in sensor watches ambient light rather than running on a clock, so it tracks the changing sunset through the year by itself.
3. It switches on at dusk — when the level drops past the threshold, the LED comes on. No timer, no app, no switch.
4. It switches off at dawn — the sensor cuts the LED at first light and the panel starts charging again for the night ahead.

How to Set Them Up

1. Pick a north or west-facing surface — in Australia, north-facing gets the most sun through the day and west catches the long afternoon. The sunnier the face, the longer they run each night.
2. Screw or stick it on — use the included screws into timber, masonry or composite, or an outdoor-grade adhesive where you don't want holes.
3. Space them evenly — measure the run and divide it rather than eyeballing. Uneven spacing is the difference between "lit fence" and "someone stuck lights on a fence".
4. Give it one full day before the first night — if they don't come on the first evening, that's almost always a flat battery out of the box rather than a fault.
Tip: mount at or just below eye level and aim the light down the surface. Pointed outward they glare at you; pointed down they light the fence.

Care and Maintenance
  • Wipe the panel — dust, pollen and cobwebs on the panel face are the main reason these dim over a season. A dry cloth every few weeks is the whole job
  • Rinse off salt near the coast — salt film builds up invisibly on the panel and cuts the charge long before the unit looks dirty
  • No abrasive cleaners — scratching the panel surface permanently reduces how much light it takes in
  • Check the adhesive ones after summer — heat and UV soften outdoor adhesive over time, so give stuck-on units a nudge at the end of the season
  • Trim what grows over them — a creeper across the panel in spring will have them running flat by autumn

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I mount the lights?
Use the included screws for timber, masonry or composite. Where you do not want to drill, use an outdoor-grade adhesive. No wiring or electrician is needed.
Do I need to switch them on each night?
No. A built-in light sensor switches each light on at dusk and off at dawn. It reads the ambient light level instead of a clock, so it follows the changing sunset through the year.
Which way should the lights face?
In Australia a north-facing surface gets the most sun through the day and a west-facing one catches the long afternoon. A south-facing fence will charge poorly and give a shorter run.
How many lights come in a pack?
You can choose a pack of 4 or a pack of 8. A pack of 4 suits a deck railing or a short run of fence, and a pack of 8 suits a full boundary or a longer set of steps. Mounting screws are included.
What battery do they use?
Each light has a built-in 1.2V AAA 600mAh NiMH rechargeable battery, charged through the day by a 2V / 100mA amorphous silicon solar panel.
Why did my lights not come on the first night?
That is almost always a flat battery out of the box, not a fault. Give the lights one full day of sun before the first night. If they dim over a season, wipe dust, pollen and cobwebs off the panel with a dry cloth.
